PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Daley Center invites all Contractors to bid on the Richard J. Daley Center Boiler Re-Tubing Project.
The Richard J. Daley Center Project is located at 50 W. Washington St, Chicago, IL 60602.
Richard J. Daley Center Boiler Re-Tubing Project Overview:
Project Mechanical Scope Includes:
- A full re-tubing of Boiler #2 (approximately 771 tubes) and disconnection of the boiler’s soot blower. Boiler inner and outer skins are removed and replaced with new. Boiler insulation,
refractory/brickwork are removed and replaced with new. - Replacement of three 3″ boiler fill valves, for Boiler #2, Boiler #3, and Boiler #4. The valves are
located overhead in the boiler room. The valves have chainwheel operators. - Replacement of two tank level indicators at boiler system tanks (Surge Tank and Deaerator Tank)
located on the mezzanine level in the boiler room. The associated indicator panel lights at the boiler
room level are replaced. The associated controls and wiring for the tank level indicators are replaced. This work must be scheduled on a weekend. - Replacement of a fill valve float sensor and a linked pneumatically-operated fill valve at the
Deaerator Tank on the mezzanine level in the boiler room. The float sensor and the fill valve are linked via pneumatic control lines that must be replace/reworked required. This work must be scheduled on a weekend. - Replacement of gas valves and gas valve train components and piping (including burner pilot system piping and components) at Boiler #2.
- Replacement of gas valves and gas valve train components and piping (including burner pilot system piping and components) at Boiler #4.
- Replacement of three hydronic tank cold water fill valve internal components at the 19th floor. These are McDonnell & Miller float-type fill valves. This work must be scheduled on a weekend.
- Contractor shall obtain all permits and inspections and provide all testing and controls work for the
project. - Contractor shall review the Daley Center Asbestos-Containing Material (ACM) Reinspection Report from 2020 and the Daley Center Operations and Maintenance Plan for ACM.
- Contractor shall provide for all necessary ACM testing and procedures and equipment for work involving ACM.
- Contractor shall provide all testing and startup required to return affected systems to service.
